Just new to the area I went to see the doc
Not on any medication? that gave them a shock!
Come in for a check -up, to see if you’re OK
According to my age they didn’t think I’d last the day!
She checked me over slowly then said I was too fat!
She had a bigger bum than me, what do you think of that?
At just under nine stone I didn’t think I weighed a lot
She said you should take statins, so that was a bit of a shock.
They get £5 for writing a prescription
I like to stay healthy that’s my description.
Try to avoid tablets given by the doc Keep well!
You don’t want to end up an old crock!!.
We hoped our doctors had a vocation
Now they just want us to have a cremation!
I said I don’t believe in medication
I prefer to keep my ills at bay, by doing meditation.
The check -up over, I didn’t leave in tears,
Because on the form it said, come back in five years.
I suppose in five years they hope I will have died
Also, I’m not having a flu jab either, I cried.
My body likes being natural and not overweight
That’s why I’m still teaching yoga at age 78!
Come along and have some fun
Yoga is for everyone.
Stretch and bend and use your breath
Get up full of beans, not feeling like death.
The yoga teacher is now aged 78
Still moving and not waiting at heavens gate!
All you need is a non- slip yoga mat & a blanket.
Plus rent for the hall. Wednesday 6.30-7.30pm
All ages, sexes & sizes welcome.
Just turn up for more info text Ryta 07522845300
The sky was clear full of beautiful stars
But the light pollution was seen from afar.
The smell of woodsmoke hung on the evening air
Warm inside the fire viewed, from a nearby chair.
Dancing flames were yellow, orange and red
Fire fairies joining in before they went to bed.
The embers were fading we’ll cover them with ash
Then in the morning it will relight with a dash.
The location tranquil with fields and woods
This is how everyone should live if they could.
Walking the dog in the crisp morning air
Admiring the wind turbines I stand and stare.
They could look like some exotic flowers
As they rotate for hours and hours.
Feel they should be coloured, painted a violet hue
Then they would look pretty for me and you.
The dog enjoys her sniffs trailing around
Then we arrive at a stile how will she get round?
She manages to wriggle her way through the gap underneath
Well done I say, she smiles, giving me a glimpse of her teeth.
The next stile is built in a different way
I climb over as an example and say,
Come on now you can manage to get through.
She looks, not knowing quite what to do.
Now come through the middle, you’re not a bimbo!
She surprised me she did the perfect limbo!
Head first through the middle, she pushed off with her feet
No doubt by now wanting to get home to eat.
We manage to play ball seems like most of the day
Perhaps she likes me to come and stay.
Next the chickens need feeding when released from their run
They forage in the garden and seem to have fun.
Avoiding the dog, she just wants to give them a lick,
They go into the undergrowth peck, peck, pick!
One night one didn’t want to go to bed
I chased it round the garden then into the shed.
They liked to be picked up and given a stroke
In return they lay delicious eggs with a tasty yolk.
I’ve enjoyed my taste of the Good Life, in the fresh air
We should all try to make time to relax, stand and stare.
We purchased the pub in 1983
Before that we were footloose and fancy free.
Owning a pub is much dedication,
Our life became full of complication.
We had lots of ideas and animation,
Then the pub burnt down. Oh! What frustration.
We continued with anticipation.
The customers showed us their appreciation.
The pub still extended its invitation
We hope you accept without hesitation.

The owners and staff working hard, side by side.
For sixteen years we toiled at the pub.
We enjoyed the noise and general hub bub.
But now it’s time to close Oh! What a shame!
The journey now completed it’s time for a game.
Now begins the rest of our life as we try to sell,
Not run on routine calling ‘Time with the bell.
It took six long years with divorce in between
This was not what we planned or had foreseen.
My days were spent gardening in tranquillity
Would I get a job or have any ability
Or talents as yet unknown to me
That would suddenly appear to let me be free.
Then, I heard a voice it said get on with the book!
What did this mean? I picked up my pen and my hand shook.
I started writing, told myself to get a grip,
Took the manuscript with me and went on a trip.
There I wrote a pilot sitcom for T.V.
I’m looking for someone to write it with me.
Somebody out there with good humour and fun
Are they waiting for me that special someone?
